Agents and Entities | ||||

This content follows a theme I've been working on for two decades. The essential idea is that of empowered programs, implementation code that approaches independence of behavior while still achieving its design goals. Dan Shapiro wrote a dissertation on this, called Value-Driven Agents. The work on entities saw fruition in distinction networks and VEOS. The concepts came first from some radical thinking about applying the principles of self-organization (following Varela) to programming. These ideas are published as systems theory, here is an outline of the concepts: |

The paper on Entities best describes the concept of self-organizing programs with the resources of an operating system. Motivated Agents develops these ideas with the semantic web in mind. |
